Code of Cures

Our Mission

At Cure of Codes we aim to promote an ethical approach to medicine through encouraging a holistic understanding of its scope. By examining ethical dilemmas in healthcare, we seek to foster a deeper awareness of the moral responsibilities inherent in the medical profession. Our aim is to emphasize the crucial role ethics plays in shaping the past, present, and future of healthcare.

What are Medical Ethics?

Medical ethics refers to the moral principles that guide healthcare professionals in their conduct. Due to the fluid nature of the world, it is vital to hold a modern understanding of ethics. This is important because it provides a universal framework for conducting research and practicing medicine to make better choices in these fields. There are 4 pillars that are currently taken into account.

  • Beneficence: All choices for a patient are made with good intent

  • Non-maleficence: To do no harm

  • Autonomy: Respecting one's choice

  • Justice: All patients are treated fairly

Chloe Cherng

Co-Founder

As a motivated individual fascinated by biomedical sciences, Chloe Cherng is currently studying Pharmacy and related STEM coursework at Brooklyn Technical High School. She has assisted with organization and advocacy efforts behind causes to expand outreach, while always striving to improve her effectiveness. After reading "Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers" by Mary Roach, Chloe took an interest in the role ethics play in the healthcare field. Ethics has always played a role in the field, guiding how patients are cared for as well as how medical research is conducted. The role of ethics has continuously evolved throughout time, and Chloe hopes to contribute to making care more equitable and safe for all. Through co-founding Code of Cures, she hopes to learn more and contribute to a mission of promoting the importance of bioethics. She is driven to expand awareness and inspire others to consider the impact of bioethics on the daily lives of individuals.
